Collection of shells and conches. Trumpet Newt (Charonia tritonis), also called the Giant Newt, has a pinkish-cream body with reddish spots, yellow tentacles with black bands, and a huge foot. Present in the tropical Indo-Pacific, it lives on sandy bottoms and coral formations. It feeds on starfish and other eschinoderms. Its preferred prey is the infamous Acanthaster planci, a coral-destroying starfish, making this gastropod a useful species for reef survival.
